Madison Youth Sailing Foundation is excited to announce the second year of MSYT (Madison Youth Sailing Team).The goal of the program is to create and strengthen sailing culture for our children. The foundation of this culture will depend on family and community participation. We not only want sailing to be fun, we want it to be cool! Our goal is to create a sailing team in a comfortable family encourage environment so our children inspire others to join in the fun and participate in the team. We aim to build a great team experience for our sailors through fun racing, starting with out Thursday series extending to away regattas.
In order to foster the development of this culture and encourage family participation, practice and racing will be held out of the Maple Bluff Marina. We have a grill, bathrooms, and some green space. We will also have some families with motor boats for on the water observation. Not only do we request a cheering section from our sailors' families, we would encourage you to invite anyone and everyone to join in the fun at the park and cheer on our young racers.
MYST will focus with Opti's again this year. We will meet twice a week for a sailing team practice and a summer racing series. This will give us the opportunity to better prepare for race specific concepts, tactics, and drills to reinforce our races. This will also give a consistent opportunity for our children to practice without “parent coaching” allowing them more space to grow.
The team is supported by MYSF, but will require the help of parents and kids to make a great experience. The program is for OPTI sailors (under 125 lbs. and under 15 years old) who wish to build upon and improve their racing skills. The program is designed for sailors from beginners to those with racing experience, and who want to have more fun, learn to race, and attend IYLA regattas.

• Also there is an automatic discount of $50 for additional children registered, i.e. 2nd, 3rd, etc.
• Team Practice – Tuesdays - June 19 - August 14, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
• Thursday Race Series – Thursdays - June 21- Aug 16, 5:30 pm -7:30 pm
• Racers and parents are encouraged to come early to set up and prepare, as well as stay late to hangout and enjoy some snacks
• Home Regatta - August 6
• Travel Regattas - there are 4 that we recommend 6/25, 7/11, 7/23, 8/3
• Spring Tune Up Camp - June 11 - 15 - We will provide a full day 9 - 4 spring tune up and team building camp to start the summer
Equipment and coaching will be provided by MYSF at all events including regattas. The team registration cost does not include regatta registration fees.

Participants in the sailing team will receive a discount on other sailing classes.
