Students in this class will build upon the Green Fleet curriculum and introduce intermediate and advanced racing techniques and seamanship skills. Students will be instructed how to rig his/her boat and become a self-reliant sailor. Students also will learn rules, tactics and proper sailing techniques. As appropriate, the MYSF coaching staff will introduce new sailing opportunities to the class, such as X Boats (double handed) or Lasers (advanced single handed).
All classes are held at MYSF and occur rain or shine. Coaching will also be available at specified regattas for RWB students, including LBSS Opti, GLSS Dingyfest, and ILYA Optimist Championships.
Friday Race Days:Each Friday, RWB students will participate in a cumulative summer series and is intended as a replacement of the evening sailing team of previous years. There will be on the water coaching by MYSF staff. Parents are encouraged to attend. Even if your child is not registered for all 4 RWB sessions, they are welcome to participate in Friday race days.
Recommended For: This course is recommended for sailors who have completed the Green Fleet class and have been given the recommendation from MYSF staff to move up to RWB, or have previous Opti/racing experience.
Students will be required to use their own racing boats for class and travel. Charter boats are available for additional fees.
